The Driver's Edge - BLUE GROUP SOLO (INTERMEDIATE)
The stock suspension had been replaced by:
Aston Martin/Davron Competition suspension:
To the surprise of the other drivers as well as the instructors, the new combination of shocks, springs, front & rear sway bars, wheel and tires provided an incredible improvement in the car's handling and cornering speed. Much less efforts were required to keep up with much lighter cars. Therefore the ride in the city or bad roads is extremely uncomfortable.
Repetitive fuel pump problems allow only for 3 complete (20 minutes) sessions during the weekend.
The tire ware was far from expected. While the Avon did not show any significant ware during the 3 first events, the Yokohama A032R were about 30% used.
On some of the pictures below, you will see little white marks on the tires. This is shoe polish positionned on 90* angle. This is a techniques from the 1960s to look at tire rollover and adjust the tire pressure.
The new suspension allow heavier cornering speed and required stronger braking. Several times the brake fluid boiled. This was solved for the November event using ITM Metal Master disc brakes pads (17-20209M D209M)
